Front porch rebuilds start with foundation evaluation. We excavate to assess the existing footing condition before committing to the scope — sometimes the foundation is salvageable, sometimes it needs to come out. New footings go below frost depth, new framing is pressure-treated, and we build the structure from grade up before selecting finish materials. Structural work completed correctly is invisible in the finished product, which is the point.
Decking material options are composite for low maintenance, tongue-and-groove fir for a traditional appearance, or PVC for durability in high-moisture applications like covered front porches. Columns are selected or custom-built to match your home's architectural period — craftsman tapered, colonial round, or square craftsman profiles. Railings and stairs are installed to current Michigan building code for guard height, baluster spacing, stair geometry, and handrail graspability.
Oakland County homeowners rebuilding a front porch need both structural competence and architectural sensitivity. The structure needs to carry the loads safely, but the finished porch also needs to look like it belongs on the house. We coordinate every detail from foundation to finished trim — and we pull the permit so the completed work is documented for resale.
